PBA Claims 4-1 Victory Over Greene County Ghost 18U
PBA rode strong pitching and timely hitting to a 4-1 win over Greene County Ghost 18U on Saturday.
Greene County struck first in the opening inning when Drew Adams singled in a run, but PBA answered right back. Josiah Cuellar ripped a double down the left-field line in the second to even the score at one apiece.
PBA grabbed the lead for good in the fourth when Solomon Wegmeyer blasted a triple, making it 2-1. The offense kept the pressure on, tacking on insurance runs behind RBI from Brody Sobota, Cuellar, and Braylon Cates.
Cates dominated on the mound, going six innings and allowing just three hits and one run while striking out eight. Aiden Schuitema closed the door in the seventh to secure the save.
At the plate, PBA pounded out 10 hits, with Abel Anaya Jr., Cuellar, and Wegmeyer each collecting two. The defense was flawless, playing error-free baseball behind Cates, with Sebastian Gramek leading the way with 10 defensive chances.
For Greene County Ghost 18U, Adams finished 1-for-3 with the team’s lone RBI. He also pitched a complete game, striking out five while scattering 10 hits. Chase Ankrom, Kory Taylor, and Brayden Ellsworth each chipped in a hit, and the defense turned a clean double play while committing no errors.
